Janet McDougall is a Senior Data Archivist with the Australian Data Archive (ADA), at the Australian National University (ANU). She a background in systems IT, data management, GIS, and social research (ANU Master of Social Research, Adv). Her core role, alongside varying external project collaborations, includes outreach and curation of research data for preservation, dissemination, and the implementation of metadata and standards.
Janet’s archive experience is focussed mainly in the social sciences and humanities, but she also provided archival direction and early support for the Long Term Ecological Research Network (LTERN) Data Portal at ANU. Her current focus is on qualitative data, and recent technologies relating to controlled vocabularies, and linked open data and the semantic web for enhanced data sharing.
